The Earth was young when the Ootsutsuki first crawled out from the Demonic World. They created humans and other humanoids in their own image and thousands of years later humankind was separated into different lands.
The Ootsutsuki had gifted mankind with their demonic power that gave them source of their life force, known as chakra. With this chakra came the demonic power of these demon gods, but only a selective few, born of demons, descended from the Sage Of The Six Paths two sons and the sons of his brother were granted the most powerful of these abilities. Only those with what is known as a Kekkei Genkai are able to truly trace their power to that of the demonic gods and not just lower level demons.
Everyone possessed chakra but no true humans were gifted with the ability to become what would be called shinobi. The five great nations were formed and a daimyo took control of every nation. Ninja clans formed, ninja wars between these clans raged.
That is until the founding of the first ninja village in The Land Of Fire. After that the other major nations took note and formed their own ninja villages. Yet, there are many lands still at war, many lands with no villages and no way of protecting those humans not blessed by the demonic power that the Ootsutsuki left behind.
